David has the patience of Job, and was most patient with me. As a total novice, I needed step by step instructions. Most of the technical information went above my head, but he knows my mind, and that some of it my mind would comprehend, most later than sooner. I will continue to learn all about info on such things as servos, glowfuel, CA, two and four stroke engines, and what have you, but I most enjoy IRONING!... HA!... NOT clothes but WINGS! I learned "first hand" about CA glue. I thought I would have to sleep with some model parts but David came to my rescue. Now I know about debonder too!
My first assisted flight with my Butterfly was at the Clewisten airfirld, when we went on our field trip. I had some problems controlling in flight, but found out later it was a defect in the buudy box, not me! My 2nd flight was at our Markham Park airfield, and although it was a little breezy, I was able to take her up, and land her, with David right beside me, in times of trouble. My heart was racing for she did not want to come down from the air, she climbed higher, and higher, with each gust of wind. She ran out of fuel and still was climbing with the thermals. Any-way, what goes up must come down, and she did that with a dead stick landing... EXCITING!
The more I fly, the more I want to learn, and the more I learn, the more I want to fly. A LITTLE ABOUT ME: David And I are the proud owners of a 1956 Piper Tri-Pacer that we keep hangared at North Perry Airport. I learned to fly watching the King Flying School vidieos, and hands on experience with David being my instuctor. I do find that flying the full scale airplane is easier than the radio- controlled, but it would definitely be much more dramatic on hard landings! When time allows (I am a full-time nurse), I'm looking forward to starting another model r/c project... with NEON contrasting colors for when the plane wants to climb and out of sight! Judy
